Bombardier today announced all existing Global aircraft customers can take advantage of ultra-high-speed Internet access, consistent performance and seamless coverage across the globe. Awarded a supplemental type certificate, Bombardier WAVE (Wireless Access Virtually Everywhere), the fastest worldwide* onboard connectivity solution, can now be installed on all Bombardier Global 5000 and Global 6000 aircraft, as well as previous Global aircraft models as a retrofit.

“Existing Global aircraft customers can install the system at any of our Bombardier Service Centres, and take advantage of an ultra-high-speed in-flight connectivity and productivity solution to make the most efficient use of their time onboard,” said Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Vice President and General Manager, Customer Experience, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “Global customers can benefit from the Service Centre Network’s comprehensive capabilities and flexibility, all while maximizing their downtime by pairing their installation with their next aircraft maintenance event,” he added.

Global aircraft offer an unrivalled passenger experience featuring the industry’s original, class-leading wide cabin and now Bombardier WAVE – the business aviation industry’s first Ka-Band ultra-high-speed Wi-Fi service available in flight. This reinforces the Global aircraft family’s position as the leading choice for business travel providing ultra-high-speed Internet access, consistent performance and seamless coverage across the globe*.

The in-service Global fleet has performed nearly 700,000 landings and has logged nearly 2,000,000 flight hours. Impressive short takeoff and unmatched landing distances in its class, coupled with slow approach speeds, come together in the Global aircraft to give customers greater access to more of the world’s most challenging airfields and business hubs.

Bombardier WAVE leverages Honeywell Aerospace’s JetWave™ hardware and Inmarsat’s JetConneX solution to deliver ultra-high-speed access, consistent performance and seamless coverage across the globe*. JetConneX is powered by Inmarsat’s next generation Ka-band satellite constellation, which has steerable beams that can boost bandwidth in high traffic areas and direct capacity where it matters.

A Global 5000 aircraft was the first customer aircraft to feature a retrofit installation of Bombardier WAVE at its Singapore Service Centre. This Global 5000 jet can now allow its passengers to browse the Internet, stream online media and stage a videoconference high above land and water as seamlessly as they would at home or in the office.

As Bombardier’s fleet continues to grow, so does Bombardier Business Aircraft’s award-winning Service Centre Network with additional Customer Response Team trucks in the U.S., a brand new Tianjin Service Centre and a newly-announced wholly owned London-area Service Centre at London Biggin Hill Airport. The Network is equipped to support Bombardier Learjet, Challenger and Global business aircraft and is connected to Bombardier Business Aircraft’s 24/7 Customer Response Centre and world-class Customer Support Team.
